Born on 3/25/71, Perry Klein began
his football career as an "All-City" quarterback for

Division title. |
 |

During his time at Carson High,
Perry shattered a number of Colts' records, including:
- Most passes completed (72%)
- Average gain per pass attempt
(10.7 yards)
- Highest quarterback rating
(NFL, 138.50)
- Highest quarterback rating
(NCAA, 184.53)

a season (3), and

a game (90%).

Considered
one of the nation's top quarterbacks following his high school career,
Perry was recruited by California (after turning down offers from Penn
State, Alabama, Miami, or Stanford), but when he wasn't given a starting
position, he switched to little C.W. Post college in New York. |

At
Post, Klein had a tremendous season, setting records for offense and passing
yards. He passed for a record 614 yards and 7 touchdowns in
a single game.
As a result, he was drafted by the Atlanta
Falcons in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL draft, the third quarterback
drafted. |
 |

 |
Perry
played two seasons for the Falcons, but he had the misfortune of playing
on the same team as Jeff George, one of the best arms in the NFL. So
his playing time was limited.
The Falcons waived him in 1996, his third year with the team. Klein
went on to sign with the Amsterdam Admirals of the World League. |
